Due to a recent internal promotion, we now have an opportunity for a proactive and self-driven individual to join our team as Distribution Centre (DC) Manager for our newest and largest site in the Southern Hemisphere, located in Berrinba. This pivotal role is a key part of Avery Dennison’s Australian Business, and presents an exciting opportunity for the right person who is ready to make their mark and lead a world class operation.


Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will lead a local team working across 3 shifts. The scope of the role includes site management of safety, quality, production, and incoming/outgoing freight. Although functionally supported, the role is largely autonomous and will require real leadership and initiative to develop strategies and operational practices, that will ensure the business meets and exceeds customer expectations.

Some of the key responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure world-class safe work practices and procedures are identified and implemented throughout the DC.
  • Drive scrap, waste, and energy reduction in line with Avery Dennison’s sustainability goals
  • Manage inventory movements and inventory accuracy.
  • Manage the Slitting and distribution activities of the DC, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of operation.
  • Drive continuous improvements in productivity and operational effectiveness, service responsiveness and reliability.
  • Continually review the potential and capability of DC staff at the QLD DC, and ensure the requisite capabilities and skills are in place to drive continual improvement in productivity and process.
  • Through an integrated training system, upgrade and develop talent to ensure a customer oriented, and process & productivity improvement focus.


  • 5+ years experience leading a team in a distribution and manufacturing environment, preferably within the label and packaging industry.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably degree qualified and/or relevant industry recognized training)
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development training
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Excellent planning & organisation skills
  • Advanced reporting and computer systems skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentations)

The successful candidate will be proactive, resourceful, self-driven and comfortable to hold themselves and others to account. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels is essential.
