Pedal power raises over $130K for MS
IPMG businesses raise significant funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the 2011 Gong Ride. Around 180 print staff jumped on their bikes for the 90km race from Sydney to Wollongong.
According to Steven Anstice, CEO who led from … er, somewhere near the front? the total amount the group raised will continue to rise before the Friday cut-off. As of Monday it was at $107K and counting, with another $26K in sponsorship to be allocated equally across the six teams.
“It certainly hasn’t closed yet so people can still donate, because they know the riders have actually ridden instead of just talking about it. The website is still accepting donations,” he says.
Anstice joined the180 riders representing IPMG for the 30th annual charity race. All participants from Hannanprint, Offset Alpine, Craft Inprint, Sinnot Bros, wore team jerseys carrying the logos of its major sponsors.
Spicers Paper, SAPPI, Ferag and manroland all threw their support behind the IMPG teams. The print group had a tent at the finish line with support crew providing much needed refreshment to the riders.
“By the time you add it up there were about two people behind every rider on the day helping out. It was a fantastic turnout, and we are absolutely delighted with the amount of funds we have been able to raise for MS,” said Anstice.
“On Friday we will be awarding a prize for the team who raised the most money, and the most raised by a single rider. You can still donate to your favourite team and help them across the line.”
Other graphic companies to participate in the charity ride include GEON, Fuji Xerox, Konica Minolta and Fairfax.
