OPUS Group reaps merger integration benefits with stronger core team

The newly listed print group has appointed Richard Celarc as general manager of its publishing division following the successful assimilation of McPherson Printing Group (MPG).

Celarc, a founding shareholder in OPUS, will be responsible for the integration of the MPG business.  “We are pleased to report, on an annualized basis, we have already achieved 20% of the integration benefits and are confident that our leadership team is capable of delivering further cost savings,” he said.

Coinciding with this appointment is the announcement that Alan Fahy, formerly CEO of MPG is stepping down after seven years of heading the business.  Bill Mackarell, chairman of OPUS Group, paid tribute to Fahy and his contribution to the MPG business.

“Alan has overseen a significant period of change for the MPG business and has been instrumental in the successful merger of OPUS and MPG.  One of Alan’s finest achievements, along with his team, has been the implementation of the world leading inkjet digital technology recently commissioned at MPG,” said Mackarell. “We thank Alan for his contribution and wish him all the very best.”

In a further senior management appointment, Mike Angless has been appointed UK Sales Manager for OPUS, based in London. The appointment reflects the group’s focus on extending its global reach and follows OPUS’s attendance at the London Book Fair where its global offer, focusing on digital content delivery and business services extension, was unveiled.
