WrapXi automates end-of-line packing, using recyclable kraft paper, reducing manual handling, and improving production efficiency, says MBO.
Post-press specialist MBO, part of the Komori Group, has introduced WrapXi, an automated end-of-line packaging system designed to streamline packing operations and provide a paper-based alternative to plastic wrapping.
The system takes stacks of finished products, wraps them in kraft paper, seals them with paper tape, applies labels and transfers them for palletising. It is designed for printers, finishers and other manufacturers whose finished products are still packed manually before dispatch.
While presses, saddle stitchers and binders have become increasingly automated, packing often remains a manual process. MBO says WrapXi addresses this gap by automating the final stage of production, reducing repetitive handling and allowing staff to focus on other tasks.
The company says the system accommodates stacks delivered lengthwise or crosswise, keeps saddle-stitched and slippery brochures in position, and can wrap two-up and three-up production as a single package. Paper is also cut to suit each job’s width.
By replacing plastic film and shrink wrap with kraft paper and paper tape, complete packages can be recycled.
Stefan Schülling, Managing Director of MBO Postpress Solutions, said the system addressed a common gap in otherwise highly automated production lines.
“Our customers have invested in fast, automated presses and finishing lines, yet many still pack the finished product by hand,” he said. “WrapXi closes that gap. It takes over the last step on the line, uses paper instead of plastic, and can grow with the customer from a single packing station to a complete end-of-line solution.”
