The Print Service Provider Program is part of the existing Adobe Solutions Network (ASN). It aims to offer the necessary support for producing the best prepress output within InDesign, as well as for securing the most effective production results when using Acrobat and the PDF file format.

Of particular interest to local printers using Adobe software is the Print Service Provider Toolkit CD, available for free to those who have membership with the ASN. The CD delivers an in-depth guide on how printers can leverage the most benefits from the Creative Suite package, featuring detailed help on topics like colour management, streamlining production and image transparency.

There are several forms of membership available for those wishing to take advantage of the Print Service Provider Program. Basic membership with the ASN is a free service and provides commercial printers with a listing on the Adobe Partner Finder service, as well as other technical resources such as the Toolkit CD.

Authorized membership to the ASN includes all the benefits listed for basic membership, as well as free technical support calls to product specialists and a complimentary copy of the Adobe Creative Suite software, along with free upgrades and pre-release software.

Jim Heeger, senior VP of professional products at Adobe, claims the company is seeking to keep printers on the cutting edge with initiatives like the Toolkit CD. “Extending our ASN offerings ensures that the print community – essential partners for creative professionals everywhere – are getting all the tools and help they need to deliver the world-class output on which their reputations depend.”
