Following structural changes last year that saw the formation of Punch Graphix Limited, a holding company that pulled together all the graphics activities of the Punch group, the company pushed on a worldwide basis to take direct control of all of its sales channels. The Xeikon equipment was previously distributed in the region by a subsidiary founded by Warren Davey. Punch Graphix Oceania was established in Sydney during July this year with South Korean Sunny Moon [sic] heading up the new operation as managing director.

Sunny Moon has a long background in graphic arts on the digital side, and says local customers can expect more commitment from the Belgium parent company in terms of sales, marketing and after-sales support.

“Since the inception of the Punch Graphix Oceania operations, I have found interest in digital printing from printing companies in the region to be very keen,” says Moon. “So I see demand growing for such technology in the marketplace across Australia and New Zealand.”

Warren Davey, former managing director of Xeikon operations in Australia and New Zealand, has expressed regret that he will be moving on after 12 years of working with the brand. However, he is excited about the prospect of moving onto bigger and better things.

“I still have a great passion for the digital printing industry and will miss the success I have enjoyed with Xeikon products over the past 11 years,” says Davey. “However with Xeikon Australia and New Zealand now evolving into Punch Graphix Oceania it is time for me to take a change in direction but remain still very much within the digital printing market.”

Davey has already begun exploring a new venture aimed at the digital print side of the graphic arts industry. The services he plans to offer will include personalised software and consulting, with the possibility of equipment distribution at some stage down the track. Expect more details soon.
