Kit Andrews, national manager of graphic arts at Canon Australia, claims the new appointments demonstrate the company’s commitment to the local print and production industry.

“Product is a given, as in 2006 we’re launching a completely new family of digital production presses, dubbed imagePRESS,” says Andrews.

“But our investment in people is even more important than this, as people are the key to ensuring a consistent customer experience nationwide while addressing the unique needs of every sector and region.”

Kirsty Beed is being placed into the position of operations manager, and will provide national support to the sales team in every state. Beed is there to ensure that staff understand the unique demands of the industry, such as its cashflow cycles and the need for guaranteed response times.

Several appointments have also been made to ensure the demands of specific industry sectors are met, with several new business development managers operating on a national level.

Justin Turner will fill the position of business development manager for in-plants, Werner Pluess is the business development manager for quick printers, while Ling Wong is the business development manager for graphic arts.

Jim Street, national professional services consultant at Canon Australia, will provide support to the new business development managers across the country. Street will use the resources of Tony Neal, product testing and colour management, to ensure the company develops solutions that respond properly to customer needs.

Canon also insists it will tailor its services to the specific requirements of the country’s two largest states, and has thus appointed Darren Scheggia to the position of production and graphic arts sales manager, Victoria, and Dan Laybutt to the equivalent position in NSW.
