As the dust settles on the PrintEx 07 exhibition in Sydney and printers from around the country resume normal work, Canon is celebrating a successful showing at the event. Thousands of visitors dropped by the Canon stand during the exhibition to enjoy a cup of barista coffee, see the product demonstrations, and marvel at the capabilities of the new imagePRESS C7000VP digital press.

Canon has been a key supporter of PrintEx since its inception in 1999 and has demonstrated solutions at each event. This year, Canon demonstrated the highly-anticipated imagePRESS C7000VP, which sets new standards in on-demand and flexible printing capacity. The imagePRESS C7000VP incorporates industry-first innovations for outstanding image quality, consistency and stability at a lightening-quick 70 pages per minute. The new machine promises to raise the benchmark for high-speed digital colour presses, with the quality to complement offset-press production. New technologies in the machine offer exceptional image quality, consistency and stability job after job, while a new oil-less fusing system provides the look and feel of an offset print with a gloss that matches the media. The imagePRESS C7000VP promises to make a significant impact on the professional print industry by enabling savvy operators to create new revenue streams and service offerings.

This remarkable machine offers an extra dimension, especially to those who own a traditional digital printer and an offset device – quality but with the flexibility to direct short runs to a digital device and conventional jobs to offset machines. Visitors to the Canon stand each commented on the impressive output quality of the imagePRESS C7000VP.

“PrintEx is a significant event for the Australian professional print industry and Canon was pleased with the number of visitors to the Canon stand, along with the feedback on our new devices. Canon has a long-standing tradition of supporting PrintEx, and the 2007 event was the ideal venue to debut our revolutionary imagePRESS C7000VP digital press,” said Steve Brown, production printing systems group manager, Canon Australia.

While the imagePRESS C7000VP proved one of the biggest drawcards for this year’s exhibition, as a significant player in the printing and graphic communications industry, Canon Australia also showcased its range of products, solutions and services at the event. These included the smaller imagePRESS C1 proofing machine, imagePROGRAF iPF6100 large format device, software and workflow solutions.

Canon also partnered with the Red Cross at the event to demonstrate the production capabilities of the imagePRESS C7000VP by printing 100,000 impressions of material for the Australian Red Cross, including bound training manuals. The CEO of Australian Red Cross, Robert Tickner was on hand to receive the documents from Canon Australia’s managing director, Shuichi Tsukahara.
