Canon has been named as the world’s fourth most reputable company in the 2017 Global RepTrak 100 index.

The imaging company placed behind Rolex, Lego and Disney in the annual study published by the Reputation Institute, leapfrogging four places from its ranking of eighth in 2016.

Yusuke Mizoguchi, MD Canon Oceania

Yusuke Mizoguchi, Managing Director Canon Oceania, says he is proud of his team’s contribution to the improved ranking. “We aim to act morally, in accordance with our own code of conduct and our worldwide ethical compliance framework; but more than this, we aim to make a positive difference to all we come into contact with and, through our behaviour, contribute to positive change.

“Our vision is to be a company worthy of the admiration and respect from our customers, partners, community around us, other businesses but also our employees. Based on our Kyosei philosophy of ‘living and working together for the common good’ we continuously contribute to society through technological innovation and the services that we offer,” Mizoguchi said.

The RepTrak 100 index charts public attitudes towards companies under seven key categories: products and services, innovation, workplace, governance, citizenship, leadership, and performance. It provides an overall score, with companies above 80 ranking as ‘excellent’, 70-79 as ‘strong’, and 60-69 ‘average’; Canon rated at 78.28.

Michele Tesoro-Tess, Reputation Institute.

Michele Tesoro-Tess, executive partner at the Reputation Institute, which provides stakeholder measurement, membership and management services to companies around the world, says reputation is becoming more and more important to companies who recognise its impact on business performance. “The annual Global RepTrak 100 spotlights the companies that truly understand what they stand for and how to reinforce the emotional bond with their stakeholders across all the markets they serve,” Tesoro-Tess said.
