The move sees deputy president, Alistair Hadley, Heidelberg, become acting president ahead of the next management meeting when it is expected he will be appointed to the role. Under the association’s constitution all delegates must represent a supplier company.

The marketing position at IPP Print & Pack, which Ms Darke filled for more than a decade, fell victim to a decision by global parent, MAN Ferrostaal, in Germany to radically restructure marketing activity. It follows the appointment of a new head of communications there, Dr Bernd Buhmann. Jonathan Clark, managing director of IPP Australia, expressed his regret at not being able to source another suitable position for her within the company.

“Meredith is a very professional marketing manager but with the decision forced upon us there were no other positions in the company to make use of her considerable skills. Professionally I am very sorry to see her go, as she has been a great asset to the company. Personally I’m sad she is leaving us as we have always been friends,” he said.

Meredith (pictured right) has played a pivotal role in the brand development of IPP from its days of Print & Pack. Mainly known as the MAN Roland agency, it is now a totally MAN-owned company.

On her departure she said, “It has not been a decision taken lightly on either side, but it enables me to look forward to a new challenge elsewhere with the goodwill and support of the company behind me.”

Of her interrupted tenure at GAMAA she expressed her appreciation to the organization for the opportunity to serve the industry. “I consider GAMAA to be a most worthwhile and dynamic industry association, but c’est l’vie,” she said.

As to the future she is continuing with a planned visit to Print 05 in Chicago next month ahead of some time off. She has indicated that she would consider remaining in the industry if the right opportunity presented itself.
