The printing industry awards season is in full swing with the closing date for state entries fast approaching.

Closing date are: South Australian and NT PICA – 10 August; Victorian PICA  – 26 August; NSW PICA – 2 September; Queensland PICA – 9 September; ACT PAGE awards 4 November.

Printing Industries national communication and technical services manager, Joe Kowalewski says the first event of the season, Tasmania’s PICA, was held on 6 August.

“Full details of the winners will be available shortly. This will be followed by the next event, the Western Australia PICA on 27 August at the Astral Ballroom of the Burswood Entertainment Complex.

“This will feature funny man, magician and world renowned speed painter Brad Blaze and the Fit Swimmers band,” he said.

Tickets are still available from PIAA’s WA office on (08) 9361 4625 or

Kowalewski says the State awards were the stepping-stone for entry to the National Print Awards. “Since 2009 the National Print Awards (NPA) has been a best-of-the best competition featuring the category winners of the state PICA events competing for the NPA gold medals.

“There is no direct entry into the NPA other than by winning a state PICA, so it’s important that companies familiarise themselves with the available categories and select their best work for the state awards.

“It is also important that they include individual entry forms for each entry and make sure all the information is clearly filled out including their full company name. What they provided is used to accompany the work for results listings and catalogues, so if it is incomplete or inaccurate, they are doing themselves an injustice,” he said.

Information on the state events is available on the Printing Industries website under the PICA & NPA Information link or by clicking here.
