Digital technologies – the future is here

Keynote speaker will be world-renowned Canadian substrate specialist Dr Bruce Lyne, President of Sweden’s YKI (Institute for Surface Chemistry).

Dr Lyne has had an extensive career at International Paper, lately as Director of Corporate R&D and Chief Scientist, as well as a long research career in Canada, USA and Sweden. He holds a PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm and an MBA from McGill University, Montreal. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto and a board member of the Industrial Research Institute, Washington. He is a Fellow of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) and a member of The Marcus Wallenberg Prize Selection Committee.

Dr Lyne will join local industry leaders in a lecture and discussion on:

  • Digital printing of packaging – possibilities and technical challenges.
  • Coatings and surface treatments for ink jet printing.
  • Coatings and surface treatments for electro photographic printing.
    Interactive packaging.
  • Printed electronics, batteries and electro chromic displays.

Offering a local technical perspective, our other specialist speakers are:

  • Roland Engelhardt of Digital Inks Australia on ink jet inks and EP coatings.
  • Fuji Xerox on laser printing systems.

Steve Jowett of Visy on the practical application of modular digital printing with ink jet technology.
The seminar will be held in the APPI Building (Building 59) in the Engineering precinct at Monash University’s Clayton Campus.
An excellent lunch as well as morning and afternoon tea will be provided, and this event will offer a good networking opportunity for all industry members.
