Just like Ferrari: Italian engineering combined with speed has earned Spicers the only cutting plotter Hot Pick of PrintEx15.
The Elitron Kombo SD+ has attracted large crowds as it powers through cutting fancy shapes and patterns on Spicers stand. Such is the success since launching the Elitron range just 8 months ago, that Melbourne’s Mezographic who installed the first Kombo SD has already ordered a second, dual cutting head Elitron Superplotter. At PrintEx another order was taken for a Queensland customer with more to follow.

Elitron’s all-steel construction makes for a very stable cutting bed with a cutting speed of 102 metres per minute and acceleration at 1.4Gs. The Seeker system automatically recognises printed images, even if randomly placed on the bed, and also crop marks/reference points and matches them with the correct cutting file. One mouse click is all that is required to initiate precise die cutting.

The Elitron range is extensive, which comes as no surprise as the company is located at the heart of Italy’s footwear manufacturing region, where acres of leather must be precision die-cut to make those beautiful Italian shoes. General Manager Daniele Gallucci made the long trip to PrintEx to be with his company’s creation, capably assisted by Spicers National Hardware Manager Jason Hay and his team. Already, Elitron has designed a solution for the short run packaging market – the Kombo TAV – which loads corrugated sheets in one end and unloads die-cut blanks at the other end ready for assembly. As the flatbed UK market continues to grow and impact on packaging, faster die-cutting becomes essential.
All we can say is “Bellissimo, technologia, Elitron!”
