The PIAA says interest is running high in the new state-based Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) taking place across all major states in October and November 2017.

“We have received positive feedback from the industry and sponsors about hosting these awards across all states this year,” says Andrew Macaulay, CEO of Printing Industries. “Members appear to genuinely want to acknowledge, celebrate and promote the capability within the printing industry in Australia. As our tools and technologies continue to advance, so too does the quality that we produce, and it deserves to be shared.”

The award-winning state entries will automatically gain entry to compete at the 2018 National Print Awards.

Chief judge, Jen Baile, has been assembling the panel of judges for the state awards through to the 2018 National Print Awards.

“We will ensure consistency in judging by involving representatives from the national panel at each state event,” says Baile. “I am thrilled to announce that James Taylor from Taylor’d Press in Melbourne is the newest member to join our judging team.”

Taylor says: “Taylor’d Press has been proud winners of National Print Awards medals in the past, and I know the leverage these can provide a small business in a competitive market. I am excited to move on from being an entrant to a judge for the state PICA. For me, it is about giving back to something that has given me so much pleasure in the past.”

Entries have starting coming in but time is short and Printing Industries is urging printers, designers, suppliers and clients to support the PICA in their state.

There is now less than 2 weeks to enter the Victoria PICA and New South Wales closes a week later. Entries are also open for Queensland and South Australia and will open soon for Western Australia.
