If a picture is worth a thousand words then DES and Canon provided over 400 industry players with an illustrated profitability guidebook. The DES digital fine art roadshow toured Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne educating printers and photographers about the benefits of becoming a total solutions provider.

DES is pleased with the overall response to the national tour and the sales it generated. The education core of the tour covered auxiliary services that are usually outsourced, including photobooks, printing and framing images.

The concept behind the roadshow was to educate the market on how to take an image file, and process it for a profit, Russell Cavenagh, DES’ sales director, said. “No-one has ever done a show that lines up all the dots from image capture to print and the best approach of display for sale.

“The people that turned up were busy professionals in the digital photographic, printing and framing markets. They came not because they had nothing to do that day but because they wanted to learn more about adding value to their business.

“More photographers in Australia are converting themselves into one-source suppliers of everything that follows the original photograph. This can include posters, blow-ups, photobooks, and the highly profitable framing process,” Cavenagh said.

Canon’s latest range of imagePROGRAF professional printers provided visitors a chance to see prints run on Hahnemühle canvas and fine art paper. These acid-free certified products offer end users the peace of mind that the print is going to last for years without yellowing, which is an important factor within the world of fine art.

The benefits of in-house framing and post-imaging processes were demonstrated across Innova Art’s range of JetMaster Display Frames and Hahnemühle Gallerie Wrap.
