PaperlinX bows out leaving Heidelberg and Currie Group to share the stage with the new benefactor. Discussions are still continuing on the exact makeup of the Fuji Xerox award.

The move reflects the changing fortunes and make-up of the industry with digital suppliers moving centre stage. Embattled PaperlinX had little option but to relinquish the prize industry role as it struggles to stave off disaster.

The major sponsors have traditionally awarded definitive prizes to companies selected from gold medal winners. The Heidelberg Australia Award is presented for excellence in craft and the Currie Group Graphics Award is presented for the most innovative use of imaging in printing.

According to Simon Lane, national manager of graphic communications at Fuji Xerox Australia, (pictured) the opportunity to give back to the industry is highly prized. “We did have the opportunity once before and I passed it up, which I regretted. So I’m very happy to be able to now sponsor the National Print Awards and contribute to the industry as a whole,” he said.
John Wanless, chairman of the NPA, welcomed Fuji Xerox as the new major sponsor and acknowledged the commitment to the NPA, especially in these trying times.
“With the Picas in every state now, there are more awards than ever before so we are grateful for Fuji Xerox stepping up as a major sponsor. It’s a shame to see PaperlinX go. They’ve been a major sponsor in one form or another since day one, but it’s onwards and upwards now with Fuji Xerox,” he said.
PaperlinX will be one of the 17 Patrons supporting the NPA.

This year’s NPA will be held on Friday 20th of April 2012 at the Palladium at Crown, Southbank, Melbourne, Australia. With its Greatest Hits theme and with RockWiz host, Julia Zemiro, doing the honours it promises to be one of the best-attended events in recent years.
