IPMG took top honours at the 20th Australian Catalogue Awards as the catalogue industry turned out in force to honour its own.

Offset Alpine Printing and Hannanprint produced the Catalogues of the Year, for David Jones’ (up to 1.5 million copies) and Freedom furniture (over 1.5 million) respectively.

Garth Hackett, sales and marketing director for Offset Alpine, says it is good for the industry to have a major retailer like David Jones participating in the awards, as they have been quiet for some time.

Members of the advertising, marketing and retail industries gathered Melbourne’s Docklands to recognise the design and effectiveness of one of the most popular advertising mediums.

Ken Bishop, CEO of ACA praised the night enjoyed by a capacity crowd of 650 attendees and hosted by comedian, author and TV personality, Anh Do. “With over 700 entries, the judges deliberated over a very strong field.

“It was a terrific evening and a fitting way to recognise both a milestone year for the association and some outstanding catalogues produced over the year. The awards night highlights the importance of creativity and design, which underpins the effectiveness of the medium.

“Catalogues remain a core component of many retailers’ marketing mix and it’s important we recognise the creative industry behind it,” said Bishop.
