New super wide presses drive the construction of the Euro 45 million assembly Hall 11.

Located at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site, Hall 11 will be dedicated to assembling the company’s new generation of large-format presses, the Speedmaster XL 145 and 162.

"We are pressing ahead with the growth of the world’s largest press factory," said Bernhard Schreier, CEO of Heidelberg. "Our highly qualified staff and innovative production processes will continue to represent quality mechanical engineering and cutting-edge technology in the press industry in the future too."

This investment is the largest input of funds the Wiesloch-Walldorf site has seen in the last ten years. With assembly due to commence in the new hall by the end of the month, Heidelberg expects to expand its existing product portfolio. The two new Speedmasters will be used to support sheets twice the size of existing Heidelberg presses and have the ability to produce up to 40 A4 pages on the front and reverse sides of a single sheet.

"With the new format classes, we are looking to tap into new markets and, in particular, reinforce our commitment to packaging printing," said Dr. Jurgen Rautert.
