HP will be the largest digital printing exhibitor at Drupa in Dusseldorf, Germany showcasing 10 new solutions.

Three new larger press formats allow customers to expand into applications not previously addressable by digital printing such as pocket folders, six-page brochures, posters, and large lay-flat books and a much broader range of packaging applications.

Phil Rennell (pictured), sales and marketing director for the Currie Group, was on hand at the recent release at HP Indigo in Israel. “I believe HP Indigo have once again demonstrated leadership in digital print. They have combined the proven hp indigo technology with B2+ format; a combination that provides a compelling case for digital and offset.

“Printing on all the same standard papers that our customers use today and taking advantage of the additional sheet size allows the B2 printer to have ultimate flexibility in production,” he said.

For the commercial market the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press – a 29-inch/75-cm sheet-fed press that prints at speeds of 3,450 sheets per hour in full colour, and up to 4,600 sheets per hour in EPM. It combines HP Indigo offset-matching print quality with up to seven-colour printing, perfecting and the substrate flexibility Indigo has always provided.

Introduced to the industrial market is the groundbreaking 30 inch wide roll to roll HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press, a continuous-feed press designed for flexible packaging, capable of gravure-quality printing on films as thin as 10 microns and in-line priming unit for industry-leading substrate flexibility.

For the folding carton industry the HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press has been released a 29 inch supporting substrates up to 24 points/600 microns and an in-line priming unit. The press offers zero setup, minimal waste, and easy versioning capabilities. With its 29 inch format, the press empowers packaging converters to profitably address the evolving needs of their customers.

Add seven new presses in a refreshed Series 3 and HP will be taking full advantage of its 4,952m² stand in Hall 4, reinforcing its claim as the tradeshow’s single-largest exhibitor of digital printing technologies.

The new model of the flagship HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press has a top speed of 160 pages per minute (ppm) in EPM- a 33 percent increase over the previous top speed, making it the fastest two-page digital sheetfed press available on the market.

The HP Indigo 5600, a one-shot colour mode for printing on synthetic substrates, and greater application range to generate higher revenues with lower total cost combined white ink and heavy substrate options enables unprecedented flexibility with the 5600 press.

Key innovations of these presses include:

  • Automated detection of print defects in real time, special on-press effects for high-value applications.
  • Raised print, using multiple layers of ink, creating images raised up to 50 microns from the sheet.
  • Textured effect, embossing or de bossing the sheet with a mold created digitally on the press in under three minutes.
  • Digital watermarking, for subtle, special visual effects.
  • Compatibility with Color-Logic software for metallic effect imaging using white ink and light black ink for improved monochrome photo images.
  • Use invisible ink to produce high-security ID cards, including drivers’ licenses and voting cards; add anti-counterfeiting features for high-value coupons and tickets; or issue invisible barcodes for in-house processing and control.

“These additional features allow our customers to take advantage of the digital offset quality and embellishment like never before. Adding value to the printed product with these new features is a real profit opportunity for our customers” says Rennell.

The complete range of digital presses will be demonstrated at the HP stand at Drupa. By request only private demonstrations will be made available. Please contact Caroline Leonard at carolineleonard@curriegroup.com.au or speak to you local Currie Group sales representative.
