Refreshing to hear Jason Buckley from HP yesterday at the PKN-sponsored Disruptive Innovation event for the packaging industry in Sydney. He was the sole print technology speaker to the audience of brand managers. Notably he kept it light on technical details about HP’s capabilities and focused on how short-run, personalised digital printing can provide brand managers with the ability to disrupt the market and win sales. As he said, it’s not about replacing flexo or offset packaging, it’s about temporary, seasonal, locational and events branding.

It’s just the type of engagement printers should be having with brand marketers.
