The strike may be over, but the saga isn’t: now that the 87 striking Preston workers are back on the factory floor, Australian Paper and the AMWU have to hash out a wage deal that’ll make everyone happy. The union has already won two key concessions – keeping RDOs intact and not grandfathering wages – but it’s that last 0.5 percent increase to workers’ pay that’s still on the negotiating table. Here’s hoping a solution is found that all sides can be satisfied with.
