Following an invitation from PrintNZ, the industry’s leading association, and Heidelberg ANZ to broaden its circulation to include New Zealand, Print 21, the printing and graphic arts industries’ management publication is available in New Zealand from the first issue of this year.

According to publisher Patrick Howard, the magazine is taking a punt by broadening its focus to address both the Australian and New Zealand graphic arts market. “We’ve been encouraged to do so by many supporters in New Zealand, of whom more than 800 are already committed subscribers to this newsletter.

“We have also been invited by Print NZ to subscribe its members, a cadre of upper management that spans the spectrum of printing, graphic arts and prepress companies throughout New Zealand,” he said.

“Industry suppliers have also egged us on, undoubtedly with an eye on getting more value from their advertising dollars but also with a view to the future integration of the industry.”

The move follows in the wake of growing trans-Tasman printing developments. Driven by the opportunities of expansion and the imperative to provide trans-national services to multi-national corporations, companies such as Blue Star, PMP and GEON are a foretaste of things to come.

“Beyond the currents of the market, there is another motive behind our arrival in New Zealand. As the official publication of Printing Industries, we are first and foremost a business publication aimed at the managers of graphic arts companies,’ said Howard.

“No two countries are the same but Australia and New Zealand face common challenges in the operation of printing businesses; margin erosion, industry consolidation and technology investment to name but a few. How you face these opportunities and threats will inevitably determine your future.

“One of the best means of making the right decision is to know how others in the same situation have responded, what solutions they adopted and why. It is our job to expand your number of peers and provide a forum where the issues and experiences that are shaping our destinies can be highlighted and debated.”

New Zealand industry professionals who wish to be included on the mailing list can subscribe to Print21 via the link on the left hand side of this web page, by contacting their graphic arts supply company, or emailing Print21 subscriptions
