manroland club is back with Steve Dunwell as host

The revitalised press manufacturer is set to bring back one of the industry’s major loyalty brands.

Printers with manroland presses in Australia were invited to the launch of the manroland users club at events in Sydney and Melbourne. The iconic press brand is again directly represented in the region since well-known industry identity, Steve Dunwell, (pictured) was appointed regional managing director.

The move is part of a determined campaign by the second largest German press manufacturer to reclaim its position in the local industry following years of being represented by agents. According to Dunwell, customers will now enjoy enhanced service quality under the local management. A new press maintenance service will be kicked off with the addition of three new service engineers being brought in from Germany.
A range of branded press consumables will also be introduced as manroland seeks to expand its involvement with the customer base.

Although no one is expecting a return to the glory days of press sales in the early part of the decade, manroland plans to present a credible choice to both sheetfed and web printers in the region. The company has a substantial installed base, owning the major market share of newspaper presses in Australia and NZ. It is also a leader in the provision of packaging presses and will seek to revive its profile in commercial offset.

“We are here for the long run," said Dunwell. "manroland is debt free and our management have expressed their confidence in the Australian and New Zealand markets by making this investment."
