Jossimo Print's new Konica Minolta KM-1 digital press is running smoother than ever thanks to Alwan ColorHub software, now distributed in Australia by CMYKit.
The B2 colour press, sold to Jossimo at PacPrint in May, has recently been coupled with Alwan's ColorHub colour server software, which is recommended by Konica Minolta for use with the machine. Mel Shilland, director at Jossimo, says the new software is going very well. "It’s fixed up a couple of issues that we had with transparencies and shadows, and it’s getting the CMYK breakdowns a lot closer to where they should be. The print quality that we’re supplying to our customers is now at a higher level – everything’s printing to what it looks like on the screen.
"It’s very easy to use – it’s a matter of just dropping work into a hot folder that’s been created, and the software does all the rest," she said.
Shilland says the KM-1 has been a fantastic investment for Jossimo. "The output quality has been incredible, and our customers are really happy with what we’re supplying," she said.
Shilland and fellow director Simon Crabtree purchased the KM-1 with the aim of creating a centralised printing ‘hub’ for its three franchised stores. “There were lots of benefits to the KM-1 – sheet size, speed, thickness of media, but for us, the biggest driver was quality. There’s a lot of companies out there that demand very, very high quality, offset quality, and we felt we would be able to provide that with this machine.
“We’re hoping that this machine will open doors for us in terms of new customers, new markets, and help us to grow our business,” Crabtree said at PacPrint.
Jason Hall, director of CMYKit, says he is excited to partner with Alwan, a worldwide leader in colour management, standardisation and process control software. "Following our first local install, we are extremely impressed to see first-hand Alwan’s ability to save our clients’ money with world leading ink saving technology. Distributing high-end colour management and process control solutions like Alwan’s matches perfectly with CMYKit’s expertise, strategy and portfolio," said Hall.
"I am happy to bring Alwan’s products to the Australian printing industry, where colour quality, cost efficiency and standardisation are key factors for success."
