Morprint acquisition a strategic move: Debbie Burgess, Bright Print

Bright Print will bring the Jagenberg folder gluer and the Heidelberg cylinder from Morprint into its Wetherall Park production facility, as well as the staff.

Debbie Burgess, director at Bright Print, said, “We are always looking to enhance our product offering. Morprint is a well-established packaging printer, with excellent client relations.”

Bright Print already prints packaging, and its Newcastle facility has a folder gluer. Burgess said, “We are looking to grow our packaging printing, the Morprint acquisition will certainly add to our capabilities and help us to achieve more.”

Located in Rydalmere just five kilometres from Bright Print, Morprint was established by the Morrows in 1982, the duo installing a Heidelberg GTO in their garage. The business grew consistently, and its decision to move into packaging seven or eight years ago and invest in the Jagenberg proved successful.

Lynne Morrow said, “We are delighted to see Bright Print take over the business. We wanted to make sure our clients would be well looked after, and we have no doubt that Bright Print will continue to serve them to the highest standards. Dealing with Debbie and John has been fantastic, it is a big win for our clients, and our staff.”

Morprint is now looking to sell its 1996 Komori L628, which has 97 million impressions on the clock, and its Polar guillotine. It will also sell its building, Lynne Morrow said, “That’s our super.”

Looking back on the past 42 years in print she said, “This industry has been wonderful, and wonderful to us. We have met so many amazing people. The print industry is innovative, dynamic and hard-working. It has been fantastic.

"We especially want to thank Kellie Northwood and Charles Watson at VMA, we could not have got through Covid without them, their advice and support, which has also been invaluable for our HR and IR. The print industry is fortunate to have such a proactive and relevant association."
