The Sydney session proved particularly popular, drawing 50 attendees. “The product was exceptionally well received by those who attended,” said Joe Bizinger, country manager.

The one-and-a-half hour sessions gave participants the chance to discover new page layout and design features in QuarkXPress 7, covering areas from transparency and Photoshop support through to Open Type, Quark Job Jackets and working collaboratively with Composition Zones.

“The concept of multi-channel publishing is inking in; people are starting to get it,” Bizinger said. “You can do things like manipulate Photoshop files without the use of Photoshop, all in QuarkXPress.”

Responses to the sessions have all been positive; each Perth attendee indicated that they would be upgrading to QuarkXPress 7. Bizinger is hopeful that the other states will be just as receptive.

“There’s a pent-up demand for print people to do web and interactive layout,” he said. “I’m confident that things will all flow from here.”
