The new suite of prepress software is compatible with both QuarkXPress 7 and Adobe Acrobat 7, with Quark billing it as a set of imposition tools that are priced affordably for anyone involved in the print production process.

“Quark Print Collection offers exceptional value and allows organizations to provide professional imposition tools to their entire production staff,” says Paul Schmitt, vice president of product development at Quark. “No other software offers such an advanced range of imposition capabilities for both QuarkXPress and Adobe Acrobat at such an affordable price.”

The new collection includes Quark Imposer for both QuarkXPress and Adobe Acrobat, XTensions for creating custom printers marks such as registration targets, along with the MarkIt and Item Marks software. The package is based on technology developed by A Lowly Apprentice Production, a company that was bought out by Quark just late last year.

The interface has been streamlined to allow for a range of imposition tasks to be accomplished with a minimum of effort, taking the guesswork out of the process. Imposed pages can be previewed before output to ensure quality and prevent waste, while imposition and registration settings can be saved as reusable styles that can then be shared with other users.

The software’s compatibility across both QuarkXPress and Adobe Acrobat means it allows for maximum flexibility in dealing with customer files in whatever format they are received. Pages can be imposed in 2-up, 4-up, 6-up and 8-up layouts and users can choose from a variety of binding and imposition settings for bleed, creep, and crossover. Pages are arranged automatically based on settings chosen by the user, and Quark promises the work can be performed without affecting the original source files.

Quark Print Collection has a recommended retail price of $569, talk to your Quark reseller for more information or call Scholastic Customer Service on 1800 665 774 for more information.
