Image Studios is a company that provides a comprehensive range of graphic arts services to its Brisbane clients, including premedia, design, digital posters, laminating and offset printing all out of the same premises. Wellcom plans to bring its data management technology and other systems to help retain existing clients while also boosting the group’s presence in the city.

Wellcom, which successfully went public last year, says its purchase of Image Studios is in line with a stated strategy of buyouts that complement and expand the core offerings of the group. It claims the Brisbane market has great growth potential in particular in areas of digital asset management, design, premedia and digital print.

Wellcom provides print-related services to advertising agencies, retailers and other corporate customers. Some of its current clients include agencies like Singleton Ogilvy and Mather along with retailers like Woolworths and David Jones. Since going public on the stock exchange it has also won Dick Smith Electronics, Australian Pharmaceutical Industries and Pacific Brands.

The Wellcom group is also engaged in a 50 per cent joint venture with Australia Post, known as iPrint, which manages the digital photography and print management requirements of the national mail organization. Some of its responsibilities include stamps, retail catalogues and internal publications.
