Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) says thank you to the screen printing team at Brisbane’s Southbank Institute for 35 years of continual membership.

"It’s a positive recognition of our continued belief in the industry and our belief that you need o be part of an industry body," said Graham Montgomery, technical teacher (pictured).

The screen printing section first joined the SGIA in 1973 when it was based at Kangaroo Point TAFE. With them for 21 years now, Montgomery has seen the true value of having an association with the industry.

"Over the years, the screen printing team have submitted  work completed by students which we have entered into the American Screenprint Awards. In 2006 we won two silver awards in the Golden Image Award Category," said Montgomery.

"It is gratifying to know that the standard of our students’ work is being assessed and judged at an international level."

Montgomery cannot speak highly enough of the benefits of membership with the SGIA. "We have access to all their technical information and members as well," he said.

"The SGIAA – the Australian affiliate – is also very proactive and constantly tries to get new members."
