It is bundled with Versaworks, which is the Roland DG rip, which the company says is simple to use. It prints directly onto substrates up to 2440 mm x 1220 mm and with a maximum height of 95mm, onto media including PVC panels, foam panels, corrugated cardboard, and aluminium plates.

It comes as either four-colour/four-head or six-colour/six-head models with CMYK clear and white. Roland DG says clear can be used to create raised embossed effects.

The company was also showing the VersaObject M-240, geared towards promotional products, personalisation, and industrial type applications. It supersedes the earlier two series, and comes with new generation inks. At an investment of around $50,000 it provides entry into what Roland DG says is a fast-growing market, and for around a third of that price the company was showing the VersaStudio BD-8, a desktop UV flatbed printer.

Also on the stand was the BYD-20, the DTF print system, now in its second generation. It's also part of the VersaStudio range, so still targeting smaller businesses, but at a low cost, only just into five figures.

The company also had its range of roll-to-roll print systems on the stand, which are now available in all UV, eco-solvent and resin formats.
