Signwave returns to international franchiser

Matthew Penfold, CEO of the Kwik Kopy franchise in Australia and prior owner of the Signwave outlets, says a corporate restructure was behind the decision to sell the stores back to the original US owner. He describes the Signwave business as “profitable and professional”.

Fastsigns International will now directly support the Australian franchise in every aspect of the business including operational support, technology, marketing and training. It will also actively seek interested parties for potential involvement with Signwave outlets currently available for sale.

Kate Groom, general manager of Signwave, claims the re-purchase of the organization by Fastsigns International is a positive move for the brand.

“We will continue to receive unprecedented support from our US-based franchiser while at the same time making the necessary and proper cultural adaptation,” says Groom. “Our ultimate goal and focus is fulfilling the sign and digital graphic needs of our clients across the nation.”

Signwave first entered the Australian market in 1992 and there are now 18 centres across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Technological advancements are emphasised as the main reason behind the prolonged success of the sign and graphics group with the centres reporting a collective revenue of $11 million in sales for 2005/06 financial year.

Fastsigns International is the worldwide franchiser of the Fastsign centres located in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the UK (operating in Australia under the Signwave name). The company’s franchised sign and graphics outletss offer a full range of custom products including large-format; banners; window and vehicle graphics; floor graphics; safety and identification signage; trade show displays and exterior signage.
