Industry trends at VI workshops

The organisers of next month’s Visual Impact 2018 in Sydney have put together a strong program of workshops to complement the leading sign, display and wide-format print expo.

The popular VI Workshop program will once again run on all three days of the show and is free of charge for registered visitors. It will feature a host of industry experts bringing a variety of perspectives and information to help visitors navigate latest industry trends and exploit new opportunities.

Day 1

On Wednesday 12 September, the program will kick off at 11am with a presentation by Adrian Albanese from Trotec on the benefits of laser camera systems for print and cut applications. A lunchtime presentation from Brett Mendes and Greg Stone from Roland DG will explore how print service providers can tap into the growing demand for personalisation.

The afternoon will see three more presentations. The first promises to demystify small business finance with Marian Taggart-Holland and David Louie from Ecolease, another mid-afternoon session from HP’s Jeremy Brew will delve into the magic of large-format print, and a final must-see presentation from John Hadfield of Control Zone will give businesses some vital tools and strategies to help minimise costly mistakes.

Day 2

On Thursday morning, well-known industry expert Kellie Northwood from Two Sides Australia will show visitors how to grow value with a ‘Would you like fries with that?’ approach.

Ben Carroll from Velflex takes to the stage for the 12.30 session on Day 2, posing another question, this time to those in the printed apparel business: ‘Why should I care about Heat Transfer?’

In the afternoon, PIAA CEO Andrew McCauley will look at how to adapt, survive and take advantage of the global, domestic and technology trends which offer both opportunity and adversity to industry businesses.

He will be followed by Mark Goodsell from AiGroup, who will explore trends in digitisation technology across manufacturing sectors and the skills that businesses will need to be profitable in what he calls ‘Industry 4.0’.

Day 3

Two final workshop sessions will wrap up the program on the morning of Friday 14 September. The first, from PIAA’s Paul Mitchell, promises to be a lively discussion about how membership of your industry organisation can help business owners and directors protect themselves from risk and liability.

Prior to the show closing, Kellie Northwood returns for an encore presentation of ‘Would you like fries with that?’, exploring how businesses can sell themselves more effectively.

The free workshop sessions will be complemented by a series of daily Breakfast Seminars and, of course, one of the most comprehensive displays of new technology, equipment, services and resources for businesses in the sign, display, wide-format, screen and textile printing industries.

Visual Impact Sydney will run from 12–14 September at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush.
