Worldwide Online Printing’s manager Andrew Robertson was speechless when he found out that his store had been awarded Queensland/Northern Territory Franchisee of the Year in the PricewaterhouseCoopers 2007 Excellence in Franchising Awards.

"I was just so honoured to be nominated by Worldwide for the state awards – when it was announced that I had won, I didn’t know what to say!" he said.

Robertson made the decision to purchase the Spring Hill Worldwide Online Printing centre in September 2003 after a period as manager. Over the last four years, he has increased the store’s annual turnover more than fourfold. Having won this award, he is now in the running for National Franchisee of the Year.

A firm believer in giving credit where credit is due, Robertson believes that much of the company’s success is due to his dedicated team of staff. "I’m excited to accept the award on behalf of my team. A huge part of the success of the store is due to their hard work," he said.

"It’s also a nice recognition of all the Worldwide centres in Queensland. We all rely on reach other and work well together."

Teamwork is a necessary skill for any business to prosper, according Robertson. "I think it’s important to have a great team," he said. "You need to be fussy when you’re choosing staff and thorough in their training. You need to invest in and value your team."

Support from the family has also helped keep Robertson happy. With a wife and newborn baby, running the Worldwide Online Printing centres has been a challenge, but he remains optimistic.

"Owning a franchise is a big commitment, and my wife Karen has been such a fantastic supporter," he said.
