  • Seminar to sort out forest certification

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) – the world’s largest forest certification system – is holding an event in partnership with Ingénue Consultancy and TELARC in Auckland on 28 August to help guide those in the industry through the local certification landscape.

The event will be looking at how an organisation is affected by the demands of certified legal and sustainable products, what will be the impact when China’s mandatory certification scheme is PEFC endorsed, and the benefit of global recognition and market access for exported and imported certified products.

Ben Gunneberg, director general PEFC Council (PEFC International), will be on hand to present facts and information on the PEFC certification scheme. He will address global growth and uptake of SFM and CoC certification, including the pending endorsement of China’s National Certification Scheme (CFCC).

He will also cover the increase and impact of international procurement policies and legality regulations on international trading.

Kayt Watts, International Consultant, Ingénue Consultancy, will be providing a business view on certification and looking at the differences between certification schemes, SFM and legality.

Watts will also address what’s happening in the Asian market in relation to access and supply, costing comparisons, how to market the benefits of certification and the importance of an organisation’s CSR messaging.

Additionally, Craig Brown, marketing and business development manager for New Zealand’s largest certifier of quality and environmental standards TELARC, will provide an overview of the process required to achieve certification. He will address the issues of cost, time and resources, how to get started and who to talk to for assistance.

Attendance to the event is by registration only. Those who are interested should RSVP by 20 August by contacting Kayt Watts on +61 400 140 303 or emailing at:

The event is being held on Wednesday 28 August from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour.
