  • Epson launches new digital label press for single-pass printing

    Epson has expanded its range of digital label presses with the launch of the SurePress L-6034VW at LabelExpo Europe in Brussels. It’s the first press to use Epson’s new PrecisionCore linehead technology for single pass printing and the first to feature its new LED-cured UV ink with in-line varnish technology.

    The SurePress L-6034VW was first shown as a prototype at drupa 2012 and is now available in two models; one with CMYK with digital varnish and one without white ink. The SurePress L-6034VW and L-6034V models will be available in Australia and New Zealand early next year.

    “The launch of the SurePress L-6034VW puts us in the position of offering two very different presses with two different inksets,” said Craig Heckenburg, General Manager Australia.

    The press is designed for durable print quality, short to mid-run labels on standard film and paper label substrates between 80mm and 340mm wide.

    The LED lamps used for the curing process lowers the energy consumption. It also enables printing onto heat-sensitive substrates, such as polyethylene (PE).

    According to the Epson the new press has incorporated sophisticated automatic monitor

    ing, maintenance and cleaning features within the SurePress L-6034VW.

    Nozzle State Analysis technology, will automatically sense if a nozzle is not firing and rapidly cleaning and recovering it, in return it minimises downtime, minimises ink waste and ensures continuous printing.

    Each of the six lineheads in the press comprises 11 PrecisionCore printhead modules (totalling 52,800 nozzles) that Epson says delivers precise quality with multi-size dot control and high native resolution.

    The linehead is tuned to work with Epson’s new low-energy LED-cured UV ink and in-line digital varnish technology to deliver a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi at 15m per minute.

    The SurePress L-6034VW gives users the flexibility to print high-opacity white ink first or last to boost image impact on clear and metallic substrates and to expand the variety of labels that can be produced.

    It features a time saving digital varnish feature which it enables the user to apply matte, gloss and even a combination of both in patterned or selective spot varnish effects during printing to achieve a range of finishes. This can be done on the same label or vary from label to label in the same print run.

  • Synnex takes on Epson wide format series

    Epson is broadening its distribution partnership with Synnex Australia adding the Epson SureColor T Series range of high-speed large format printers to the Melbourne-headquartered information and communications technology distributor.

    The new deal comes hot on the heels of Epson’s appointment in July of Neopost Australia (formerly GBC Australia) as a national reseller of its SureColor S Series eco-solvent printers.

    “We are very pleased to have the Synnex Imaging and Printing Product Management team working with us on our T Series printers in these specialised market segments,” said Craig Heckenberg (pictured), business unit manager for Epson Australia.

    Designed for the production of plans, drawings, presentations, maps, and short run posters, they are compact, fast and flexible with low power consumption and reduced running costs.

  • Win a Workforce Pro at the Epson/DES open day

    Epson and DES will be giving away three Epson Workforce Pro WP-4540 printers to lucky guests at an open day on at Epson’s North Ryde showroom in Sydney on 14 November.

    The open day, which is a joint venture between Epson and DES, will showcase Epson’s new range of SureColor wide format printers, including the SureColor 50600 and the SureColor SC-S70600.

    The 10 colour large format SureColor SC-S70600 is Epson’s first 64-inch (162.6cm) roll-fed printer to support optional white and metallic inks simultaneously; and the 64-inch (162.6cm) dual print head CMYK roll-fed printer, the SureColor SC-S50600, is Epson’s fastest large format printer at up to 51.8sqm/per hour in production mode.

    According to Russell Cavenagh, DES sales director, the open day is designed to accommodate the schedule of busy professionals with the option to drop in for an hour or two, with light snacks and refreshments served.

    Graphic arts and signage players will be able to see three different Epson models in action on the day, printing on a variety of MACtac and other media. Also on show will be the new Epson T series technical printer with Colortrac document scanner for scan and print services.

    Product experts will also be on hand to answer questions that visitors can throw at them. DES and Epson will give away three Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4540 printers (valued at $450 each) with a draw to three lucky attendees who come to the open day.
