DIC appoints new general manager

Andrew Brown takes up the role of general manager, Victoria at DIC Australia.

Announcing the appointment, managing director David Rands said: "This is an exciting time for DIC Australia. Over recent years we have seen strong growth for DIC in the Australian and New Zealand markets, and our challenge is to continue building quality business operations that service our customers."

With 22 years of experience in the printing ink industry, Andrew has recently returned from the UK where he held the position of European general manager for Flint Ink. Prior to this European placement he was the Australian general manager for Flint Ink Australia.

In the two years that he has been away, Andrew has already noticed significant changes within the Australian graphic arts industry. "Consolidation of our customer base in the Australian market has increased at an enormous rate," he said.

One similarity between Australia and Western Europe is the force of Asia, according to Andrew. "The Asian import threats facing our businesses are very similar to the Eastern European threat that faces the traditional Western European market," he said.

"We need to be innovative in adding value to our customer base to not only protect our existing business, but to further develop it. The industry at all levels needs to sell the benefits of world class quality and quick response as these are large barriers to imports."
