The filming will take place during a WorkChoices seminar organised by Printing Industries as part of a national campaign of 30 seminars around Australia to educate people about their rights and responsibilities. The campaign, which includes the DVD production, is part of the employer advisor program from the Commonwealth Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Ken Stenner, national employee relations and OHS services manager for Printing Industries, said the DVD would be ready in December and would be sent to all seminar participants across the country as a resource.

“Our WorkChoices for Everyone seminars are delivered in plain English by our specialist industry staff and, after completing 17 seminars across Australia to date in less than a month, we are pretty familiar with most people’s information needs. I encourage everyone to attend a local session. The Chatswood session is particularly important since it will form part of a new resource for attendees,” he says.

“Participants will hear of the opportunities now available to develop arrangements which provide flexibility to meet the specific needs of both the employer and employee and how the WorkChoices changes apply to workplace agreements and flexible arrangements, rates of pay and hours of work, annual, personal, long service and parental leave.”

Stenner says the seminars were drawing an increasing number of participants. “One of our seminars in Western Australia scheduled for our Perth State Office on 13 November has had to be relocated to a larger venue, the Hopman Cup room of the State Tennis Centre, Victoria Park Drive, Burswood.”

All participants receive briefing notes. Free on-site company visits are also available. Bookings for onsite visits can be made by contacting any Printing Industries office or by talking to presenters following local seminars.

The Chatswood Club seminar will be held from 4-6pm next Thursday at 11 Help Street, Chatswood. Venue information, brochures and online registration for all sessions are available on: www.printnet.com.au
