SYDNEY PRINTERS GATHER FOR FESPA BBQ

Some 80 Sydney sign and display printers from the local industry gathered with reps from suppliers and outdoor media asset managers, for the annual Fespa Australia barbeque, held on a sweltering night in the harbour city.

Nigel Davies, Fespa Australia president, welcomed the local print fraternity, and pointed to the future. Addressing the crowd he said, “Look around your businesses. Who are the potential leaders. Fespa Australia is running another Future Leaders programme later this year. Future Leaders is not just for young people, you can nominate anyone.”

The Sydney event, which saw printers enjoy complimentary food and drinks on the harbour’s edge at the Abbotsford Rowing Club, courtesy of the sponsors Orafol, Fujifilm, Mulford Plastics, Durst Oceania, Ball & Doggett, Coritex, Easy Signs and Cactus Imaging, and followed on from the Melbourne event a fortnight ago. Membership at Fespa Australia is growing, Davies said, “More sign and display print businesses are becoming aware of the benefits of working together, sharing resources, for the betterment of all.”

The next opportunity for an industry get-together will be at the Fespa Global wide-format expo, set for 19-22 March in Amsterdam, which will have an Australia-New Zealand get together on the Wednesday of the show. It will be held in the Club Fespa Lounge, and runs from 2pm, on 20 March.
