Reacon Group has ordered a Fujifilm JetPress 1160CF for its Australian operations at drupa, becoming the first printer in Australia to take the 160 metres-a-minute inkjet colour press.

The deal was signed with Fujifilm Business Innovation Australia for Reacon business mmw3degrees, with the press set to be delivered virtually as soon as drupa is over. mmw3degress aims to have its machine up and running by August.

Speaking to Print21 at drupa, Jahangir (Jay) Khan, managing director of Reacon Group, said, “The JetPress 1160CF will become a key piece of production equipment for mmw3degress. It is a dual engine, high-volume press, running at 1200x1200dpi, so it gives us the productivity and quality we want.”

The company will use it for its existing market base, and will look to move into new applications. Installation will take place in either Canberra or Sydney.

Khan said, “The Fujifilm JetPress will enable us to up our capacity and help us to serve our growing market as we expand through Asia.” The company already has sales offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and has just signed a deal with a global agency to execute campaigns across SE Asia.

Khan said, “We know Fujifilm print technology, and appreciate the engineering excellence, and the innovations the company provides. The new press will help enable Reacon to drive its business forward by delivering solutions the market demands.”

Chris Lynch, general manager of Fujifilm Business Australia, said, “The new JetPress 1160CF will enable mmw3degrees to add value to its print proposition. It is exciting to see an Australian business take one of the first in the region, and highlights the transition from analogue to digital that is underway.”

The Jet Press 1160CF is a continuous feed inkjet device capable of up to 160 metres a minute productivity in full colour.  The press can produce up to 20” wide images, which allows for SRA3 size print with bleed.

The press ordered by Reacon Group is only the second in the Asia Pacific region. It is running daily demonstrations on the large Fujifilm stand at drupa, a stand which also includes Fujifilm's new B2 toner press, its B2 inkjet press, and its new digital flexible packaging press, as well as its cutsheet printer series, and its wide format solutions.

Reacon bought mmw3degrees just a year ago, adding it to its growing portfolio of print operations.
