PAPER IDENTITY ANTHONISZ PASSES AWAY
Well known and respected print paper man Gordon Anthonisz has passed away, following several years of difficult health issues, after a lifetime spent in the local paper and print industry.
Anthonisz ran several of the country’s leading paper merchants during a 40 year career in ANZ paper and print, which began in the 1980s. He had extensive management skills and specialist knowledge in sheetfed offset and heatset web markets.
He started with with Spicers Paper, and held many senior roles within the company, ultimately becoming general manager in 1997.
After Spicers Paper became a founding player in Paperlinx, he continued in senior roles, before moving to Edwards Dunlop Paper as general manager, and eventually into the CPI Group, when it was a major player in paper merchanting.
In 2009 he moved into the role of a miIl agent representing many overseas paper mills. After working with Darren Allard in Dagaz, he forged out on his own as one-man band in paper.
With 40 years work he knew many people who worked in the local paper and print industry.
He is survived by wife Larissa, and four daughters.
