Chinese W2P operation orders 56 offset presses
Online printer Yintong Corporation has placed the biggest order ever taken by RMGT (formerly Ryobi), and one of the biggest ever, for 56 offset presses, comprising 338 printing units.
The sheer size of the order from the China-based business has caused RMGT to add to its workforce, to ensure the order is met, and that lead times for other customers do not blow out.
Yintong says it is aiming at becoming the number one online print business in China, and will place the presses, which will be delivered over the next three years, at various locations across the country.
The RMGT presses ordered by Yintong are mainly the SRA1 920 version, and some of the new 970 models which have a larger sheet size, although not B1. Most are LED UV, the low energy, instant drying presses.
The company has specified some 25 eight-unit 920 perfectors included in its order, some with closed loop colour control and automated everything, for ultra short run work. It has ordered only one eight-unit 970 perfector, along with ten five-colours and ten four-colours.
The monster order is one of the biggest ever placed for offset presses, rivalling some of those from big Asian printers 30 years ago.
