Clockwork owners Bruce and Wendy Hawley will retain the brand, and will focus on servicing their customer base, with all print to be channelled through Quality Press. Clockwok had already been sending much of its offset and NCR work to Quality.

Atish Shah, managing director of Quality Press said, "The deal makes sense, Bruce and Wendy can focus  their talents on their customers, while we will handle all the manufacturing, everyone is happy."

Some of the assets and staff from Clockwork are moving into the Quality Press building in Welshpool, with other equipment, including an Oce 4060 XT flatbed UV printer and a Fujifilm 800 digital colour press, up for sale, along with a host of typical print production and office gear.

Bruce Hawley said, "It was a strategic decision. We have been working with Quality Press for several years, it is a company that is true to its name so we know our clients will only receive the highest quality work from them. It is a win-win, Quality Press gets a new stream of print work, Wendy and I get to focus exclusively on sales and servicing clients, we don't need to concern ourselves with all the dynamics of manufacturing or HR."

The Hawleys bought the business in 2013, coming from a non-print background. However the end of the mining boom shorty afterwards put a dint in the company's revenues.

Looking forward to the new phase in the business Hawley said, "All Clockwork clients will continue to be serviced to the same level they have come to appreciate, and with the level of technology and staff expertise at Quality Press our customers can be assured they will receive the highest levels of print quality and service."
