CURRIE GROUP TO TOUR HORIZON BY APPOINTMENT AROUND STATES
Industry solutions supplier Currie Group is set to take its Horizon by Appointment event around the country, following its successful Melbourne event last week.
Focused on new developments in finishing automation, Horizon by Appointment was fully booked out, with a range of print businesses getting the one-to-one input from Currie Group in a series of 90 minute sessions.
Visitors to the event in the company’s Hawthorn demonstration centre went through a company-specific analysis, covering all aspects of their particular finishing operation, before going through a demonstration of relevant equipment.
Will Currie, product category manager – Finishing, said, “Our mission is to educate printers in Australia and New Zealand as to what is now possible with Horizon automation, which can run all the way from the sheet coming off the printer to the pallet stacked for despatch.
“Staffing is a major issue for all companies, and finishing is traditionally a staff-heavy area. Horizon is pioneering new methods of production to automate much, or all of what was traditionally handled by people, which will bring real benefits to print businesses.”
Will Currie has just come back from Igas, the big Japanese print trade show, where he saw all the latest innovation unveiled by Horizon, as it seeks to build on the Smart Factory concept it launched three years ago, just prior to Covid. He said, “Automation will become a key theme in the printshop. Robots for instance are increasingly part of the printhouse in Japan, and will become part of production in Australia and New Zealand. Print business that are bold and make the leap will reap the rewards.”
Horizon by Appointment ran over three days with a succession of print businesses, large, medium and small, going through the presentations. Vince Pignataro, Victorian account manager at Currie Group said, “Automation in finishing is not just for bigger print businesses, smaller shops can also benefit, for instance they may have a cylinder cutting system, that can be replaced with the Horizon digital cutter creaser that can be operated by virtually anyone, and requires little in the way of manual set-up, and will have paid itself off in two or three years. Automation in finishing will benefit companies of all types and sizes.”
Pignataro said, “With what is available now, Horizon has the ability to take out between 50-75 per cent of human touchpoints in finishing. It means the business is operating at maximum efficiency, and it frees up the staff for other tasks.”
Currie Group will be advising of dates for Horizon by Appointment in other states in the near future. The event will follow a similar format to Melbourne, with one-on-one consultations.
