Genr8 owner Yianni Moratidis says the Pro 1050, purchased from INKdustrial, will provide extra service to the company’s current and potential new clients.

“These days there are more short run orders, more demand for personalisation and there has been an increase in everyone's side hustle during Covid,” he explained. “This OKI set up allows people that have got a candle business, or similar, to have professional labels, but without having to commit to long runs which come from high-end digital and flexo printing.”

According to the company, the Pro 1050 allows for greater flexibility in label design – using digital LED together with dry toner technology, it offers a fifth colour or ‘CMYK+1’ option. Printing on transparent or coloured label media is said to be straightforward by printing an opaque white background under the CMYK image.

“Hands down, the White Ink option for me was a no brainer,” said Moratidis. “We aren’t limited to any coloured media or even clear. We looked at bigger units, but most of them are only CMYK. Now I’m aware there’s still a lot of great printers out there, but for our target market, I believe the OKI Pro 1050 is the perfect fit for us.”

Moratidis says the Pro 1050 will be used to target small local business owners, from butchers to florists, but also “especially the online retail market”.

“It’s a cost effective way for owners to brand their businesses without the massive expense of buying thousands at a time,” he said. “It’s also great for those planning to run monthly promotions or even brand their colours for occasions such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, etc,” he added.

Moratidis is clearly impressed with John Bryson and the team from INKdustrial, which provided the Pro 1050 and The Virgo desktop finishing system.

“I can’t say enough good things about John and the team from INKdustrial, on the service, product knowledge and the way they tailored this overall solution,” he said.
