INDUSTRY SHOCK AS MMW3DEGREES PUT INTO ADMINISTRATION
Major NSW mailing house MMW3degrees has shocked the industry by going into administration this morning, the move coming as other mailing houses report record-breaking months.
Mail Marketing Works, known as MMW3degrees, was founded by Laurie Griffiths in 1995. He passed away last year. His passing also marked a change in management approach. On 10 November this year, his ex-wife Jennifer Slarke replaced him as company director.
Now six weeks later, the company is in the hands of the administrator, with the future of the 40 or 50 staff at the Lane Cove business uncertain, giving them the worst possible news before Christmas.
MMW3degrees numbers telco giant Telstra among its direct mail clients, and at one time had the Westpac and Amex accounts. However, in recent years, while keeping its DM clients, its focus has been on digital delivery.
It installed one of the first Fuji Xerox Iridesse printers in the country three years ago, with its offset print outsourced. It also runs high-speed digital colour and black laser printers, scoring, folding, intelligent inserters, inkjets, and automated card/sticker affixing machines.
Among its innovations, the company offers an eco-friendly, fully bio-degradable alternative to traditional plastic wrap.
