KYOCERA BOOSTS INKJET ASPIRATIONS WITH NIXKA BUY
Inkjet press developer Kyocera has stated its intentions to become a major player in the commercial market, by acquiring French inkjet web developer Nixka.
Nixha is the business that came out of Impika, the inkjet web developer that has several installations in Australia. Impika was acquired by Xerox a decade a ago, then deemed surplus to requirements and closed down in 2019.
Nixha has developed a 1200dpi press and an 866mm print array, with flexibles printing a possible application.
Kyocera is a major inkjet head developer, with its heads used throughout the print industry, and two years ago entered the printer market itself with the launch of the cutsheet inkjet Taskalfa Pro 15000C, which has now been installed in several sites across Australia.
Taskalfa prints onto uncoated papers at 600dpi. Its water-based ink need no drying, meaning the printer can be plugged into a standard 220/240V dual phase supply. Kyocera is also reportedly working on a 1200dpi printer for coated stocks.
The company has also recently hired former Konica Minolta Australia director David Procter as its new general manager.
