Printer and MP Grant Schapps is at the centre of the chaos engulfing the UK government, with the owner of Printhouse Corporation now having one of the four highest jobs in the country, that of Home Secretary.

Printer in power: Grant Schapps, owner of commercial operation Printhouse, and UK home secretary, but for how long?
Printer in power: Grant Schapps, owner of commercial operation Printhouse, is now UK home secretary, but for how long?

Schapps was appointed yesterday, following the short-lived tenure of his successor Suella Braverman, who was there for less than six weeks, the shortest time of any Home Secretary ever.

Schapps is majority owner of Printhouse, located in north London, which was established in 1990 at the height of the UK recession. It runs both offset and digital presses.

Whether Schapps sees out the week or stays longer remains to be seen, as the prime minister who appointed him, Liz Truss, has now herself gone, after 45 tumultuous days, also the shortest time of any prime minster ever. The events in London are making Australia’s notorious revolving door politics seem like a paragon of stability by comparison.
