VIVA MAGENTA IS PANTONE COLOUR OF YEAR

A sure sign it’s almost Christmas is the arrival of the Pantone colour of the year, which for 2023 will be Viva Magenta, and in PR guff of the year is apparently  audacious, full of wit and inclusive of all.

Pantone’s colour of the year is traditionally accompanied by the PR puffery of the year, and this time around it does not disappoint, Pantone beginning its missive on Viva Magenta by saying it “vibrates with vim and vigour”. The company then says it is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and “expressive of a new signal of strength.”

The guff goes on, “Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating colour whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.”

And there’s more, according to the company’s PR writer, this year’s colour of the year is “powerful and empowering”, and is “a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.”

According to Pantone its 18-1750 Viva Magenta welcomes anyone and everyone with the same “verve for life and rebellious spirit.” It is a colour that is “audacious, full of wit and inclusive of all.”
