FESPA: BROTHER INTO WIDE-FORMAT
Brother has moved into wide-format, launching its first entry into what it calls the industrial products market, the WF1-L640 roll-to-roll latex printer.
The new WF1-L640 uses a Roland DG frame with Brother piezo inkjet technology and its own proprietary inks. It runs at 15sqm an hour, uses Roland DG’s VersaWorks rip, for a 1200dpi resolution.
Brother says it has a strategy to drive development and growth in industrial products, with a plan to take its revenue to significantly higher levels by 2030. It will launch a series of wide-format print systems between now and then.
The company is best known for its direct-to-garment print systems, and is one of the bigger players in the market. At Fespa it is launching a new extended colour model, the GTX 600 Extra Colours, CMYK with orange and green, and two extra printheads.
Brother has also upgraded its GTX Pro, with what it says is “true” roll-to-roll printing.
