Agfa will launch a B1 sheetfed inkjet press next year, the single-pass SpeedSet 1060, with the new printer set for a customer unveiling later this year.

Running at 11,000 sheets an hour, the SpeedSet 1060 will be targeted at the single pass folding carton and corrugated packaging market, as well as POP display advertising, with Agfa claiming it will be the fastest printer in its class.

Print21 understands the new printer will take boards up to 1060mm wide and 2mm thick, with a print width of 1040mm, and will have a 1200x1200dpi resolution. The 11,000B1 sheets an hour is equivalent to 150 metres a minute.

Speedset 1060 is powered by Inca technology, the company Agfa bought from Screen in April last year. There are several Inca printers running in ANZ, at high volume display print operations.

Sales in Agfa’s Digital Print & Chemicals arm were up by six per cent in Q2 to $104m. Agfa sold off its plates, software, and other offset necessities business in April to ECO3.
